Entry level experience/qualifications

  • Must have a degree in architecture recognised by the Architects Registration Board and the Royal Institute of British Architects.
  • A BTEC National Certificate or Diploma in Construction is another suitable academic qualification for this area.
  • Must be registered with the Architects Registration Board. This institution requires a five-year study programme, the Royal Institute of British Architects part 3 Examination in Professional Practice and Management, and at least two years of training in an architect´s office.


Architects design buildings and the areas around them. They work on construction projects from the beginning through completion and liaise with clients in order to know their needs and calculate what budget the project will require. Not only do they deal with the design of new building but also the updating of older buildings too.
Duties include:

  • Putting presentations together and showing and explaining them to clients
  • Project management to ensure all time frames and schedules are stuck to
  • Working and liaising with contractors
  • Holding meetings with clients and advising them on projects
  • Must have good drawing skills and be creative
  • Able to supervise others
  • Excellent communication and written skills
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Must be highly organised with strong commercial awareness
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team
Salary/Bonus details

Basic salary £60 - £100k plus bonuses and benefits
A company car or allowance is normally provided
